A few weeks ago Jocelyn began asking to have her ears pierced (she has seen me wear them often). Tony and I discussed it and agreed that it was ok as long as she understood what it would entail. I spent a lot of time talking to her about it, what would happen and that it would feel like a shot, a bit painful, but quick. Through all of our discussions she still wanted them so we agreed to go through with it. Tony and I and my mom took her to the mall after church and waited until the store had two employees (we knew if we did one ear at a time only one would get pierced!). Once there she insisted on sitting on my lap while they did it. I couldn't watch and closed my eyes. She cried for a couple of minutes (less than when she gets shots) and then was fine. Now she loves them and makes sure I remember to clean them in the morning and before she goes to bed. She is also really excited because at Christmas time she will be able to change them and she is dying to get a green pair.
As you can see in the pictures above, it didn't take her long to get over it all and go back to being her perky self!
In other news....last week I turned in my official resignation to NRCS, the agency I have been employed by for the last 11 years. I have been in school finishing up my education courses to get certified to teach elementary aged kids and will start my student teaching in January. I am really excited about this new adventure but it is a leap of faith because I don't yet have a job for next August. Hopefully I can do a great job during my student teaching and impress someone enough to convince them to give me a job. :)
