What is the old saying - If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans?
Well we certainly have learned throughout this process that none of our plans mean a thing in this adventure we call adoption. We began two years ago and thought we would have a child home by now. The wait time continued to increase. We were blessed and honored to have been chosen to adopt a beautiful little girl, shrinking our wait and at first thought we would be traveling the first of August. Then our adoption agency surprised us by telling us they thought we would travel around the 19th of July! That sent us into a tailspin of activity, trying to figure out what to do with the dog, finish paperwork and trying to coordinate finishing up my summer classes a week early.
Last week we received an update from our agency, saying our projected date is now August 2nd, much closer to our original projections. However we are waiting for some very important paperwork that could push that date back even further.
Here's something you can count on: adoption is not for the faint of heart!!
Proverbs 16:9 - In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.
Proverbs 19:21 - Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails.
Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
