October

So I've been a bit lax in posting and for that I apologize. Life with a toddler definitely keeps me busy!!

We have been home for two months now and things are still going amazingly well. We marvel everyday at how Jocelyn is doing, and how much English she is learning!! Some of her favorite phrases are: "Be nice!" and "I love you BIG!". She likes to go over the schedule for the day and repeat it back to me. I think it gives her comfort to know that we have a routine and what will be happening.

Tony and I are both back to work and I have gone back to school. We are all adjusting to the new schedules. It did not take me long to get "mom guilt" for not seeing my girl as much as I want to but I keep telling myself that I only have 6 1/2 more weeks of classes. Jocelyn is a trooper though and loves it when she gets to spend an evening with Gammy (Tony's mom) or Aunt Machelle and Uncle Dave.

Some of the things we have done in the past month: gone to the MU homecoming parade where Jocelyn became a pro at waving to get candy; going to an MU football game; having a shower/party at my work for Jocelyn (which she thought was fabulous because she got to open all of her presents).

Last night we went to church for their annual Fall Festival which included games and prizes and candy, bounce houses and puppet shows. Jocelyn put on her princess dress and had a blast! I am sure that she never experienced anything like it before.

I can't accurately describe how much life has changed for us and what a joy Jocelyn truly is. Her personality is bright and bubbly and funny. This morning we woke up to her climbing in bed with us and singing "LOLA...LALALALALA....LOLA..." at the top of her lungs! :) Gone are the days where we can sleep in, but very rarely do we miss them! I wouldn't trade her for anything and I can see how God orchestrated bringing her into our lives. She is just too perfect for us for it to have been chance or coincidence!

It is uncanny how well she fits with us. Many people have commented that she actually looks like me, and my mother swears she acts like I did when I was a kid (stubborn, standing with her hands on her hips). She LOVES to shop and always wants a new pair of shoes. Tony is quickly becoming worried that he will have to find a second job just to finance two women in the house who are obsessed with shoes. She is a morning person like Tony, immediately laughing and jumping on our bed as soon as she wakes up, ready to face the day and all it holds. She keeps us laughing all the time and is probably smarter than both of us, picking up on things we wish she wouldn't. :)

I could write a book about the reasons why I already love this kid! She is amazing, simply amazing. Everyday is a new adventure with her, and every day we laugh with her and count our blessings. She is such a joy. Now don't get me wrong, we have had our moments of frustration; she is afterall a 4 year old. She has her times of stubbornness and we engage in a short battle of wills. But they are seldom and they do not last long. And within minutes her sweet smile has melted our hearts again and we wonder how we ever made it without her.
