It's Been a Long Time....

It's been quite a while since I posted, but there hasn't been much to say. We have been plodding along with the paperwork part of the adoption. After a couple of snafus with some documents, it occured to me this week that we have virtually everything we need. Soon we will be able to send off for our INS background check, and then move on to getting everything authenticated and sent to the adoption agency! We're hoping that by Christmas all will be done and we can relax.

Last night our passports came in the mail. For me, it was a small victory, and some encouragement that yes, we will be traveling to China in the "near" future.

Sunday we have our meeting with the social worker. We are excited, but also a bit apprehensive. Everyone tells you not to worry, that it's never as bad as you imagine it might be. But at each step of this process, there is the fear that someone will deem us unworthy and we will be heartbroken. Of course, that is extremely unlikely, but it is still always in the back of our minds.

On a different note, we have a beautiful new little niece, Madisyn Ann Smith. Tony's sister Jennifer and her husband Bill have been blessed beyond measure with a beautiful and delightful little girl. She is the first grandchild and niece or nephew in the family, so she is being aptly spoiled! We're excited that our little girl(s) will have cousins close to their age to grow up with!

We are so excited for you and we can't wait for Baby Ash to get here. I promise to not spoil her/them too much.
Relax the social worker will see just how much love you are going to give this child and know that you are going to be perfect parents. Hang in there its like everything else...hurry up and wait. Listen to me, i am telling you to be patient when i have no patience myself.
You have our love and support that if you need anything we are here. Love you lots-
